Description

Key Selling Points

  • Natural mica core heating element provides stable, consistent temperature output and longer service life than standard resistance wire heating elements
  • Available in 30W (380°C max) and 60W (500°C max) — choose based on the materials and tip sizes your work requires
  • Replaceable soldering iron tips — 30W accepts 0-4mm tips, 60W accepts 0-5.6mm tips for a wider range of work
  • Insulated handle with coil protection at the cable end — reduces cable stress at the connection point and extends tool life
  • 2-minute preheat time to working temperature — ready quickly for wax welding, jewelry repair, and electronics work
  • Lightweight at approximately 0.1kg — comfortable for extended use during detailed wax model work and soldering sessions

About This Soldering Iron

The Tooltos Pen-Type Electric Soldering Iron uses a natural mica core heating element rather than the standard resistance wire found in basic soldering irons. Mica core construction provides more stable temperature output, faster recovery after contact with the workpiece, and a longer element lifespan under regular use. The pen-type form factor gives you a pencil-grip hold for precise tip placement, which matters when working on fine wax models, small jewelry components, or detailed electronics work.

The 30W version reaches 380°C and accepts tips up to 4mm — suited for wax welding, light soldering, and electronics repair where lower heat is preferable to avoid damaging heat-sensitive components. The 60W version reaches 500°C and accepts tips up to 5.6mm — suited for heavier soldering work, larger joint areas, and applications where faster heat transfer is needed. Both versions accept replaceable tips, so you can change tip shape and size as the work requires.

Choosing Your Wattage

Best For / Not For

Best For Not For
Wax model welding and repair in jewelry casting preparation Temperature-controlled precision work — this iron has a fixed temperature, not adjustable
Electronics repair, PCB soldering, and DIY electrical work High-temperature metal soldering (silver solder, hard solder) — use a torch for jewelry metal soldering
Jewelry repair work requiring localized heat application Replacement tips not included — source separately if additional tip shapes are needed

Pro Tips

  • Allow the full 2-minute preheat before starting work — using the iron before it reaches working temperature produces inconsistent results and can leave cold joints or incomplete wax welds.
  • For wax model work, use a light touch and brief contact — the iron reaches 380-500°C, which is significantly hotter than wax melting temperature. Brief contact is enough to flow and bond wax without overheating the surrounding model.
  • Keep the tip clean by wiping it on a damp sponge or brass wool pad during use — oxidized tips transfer heat poorly and produce poor solder joints.
  • Tin the tip with a small amount of solder immediately after heating and after cleaning — a tinned tip transfers heat more efficiently and resists oxidation during use.
  • Unplug the iron when not in use for extended periods — leaving it at temperature when idle accelerates tip oxidation and shortens element life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the 30W and 60W versions?
The 30W version reaches 380°C and accepts tips up to 4mm. The 60W version reaches 500°C and accepts tips up to 5.6mm. Choose 30W for wax welding and light electronics work. Choose 60W if you need higher temperature or larger tip capacity for heavier soldering tasks.

Can this be used for jewelry metal soldering (silver solder, gold solder)?
No. Jewelry metal soldering requires a torch that reaches much higher temperatures than this iron provides. This iron is suited for wax welding, electronics soldering (tin-lead or lead-free solder), and light repair work.

Is the temperature adjustable?
No. This is a fixed-temperature iron — 30W runs at 380°C and 60W runs at 500°C. If you need adjustable temperature control, a soldering station with a temperature dial is required.

Are replacement tips included?
One tip is included with the iron. Additional replacement tips must be sourced separately. The 30W version accepts tips up to 4mm shank diameter; the 60W version accepts tips up to 5.6mm.
